growing up

my colleagues always talk about expensive watches, cars, condo, landed properties, hi-fi sets, holidays.
one of my bosses told me he wanted to bring his wife to this spa resort in thailand that will cost them US$4,000 (if not US$10,000, can't remember) per night.
are they okay? aren't they mad?
am i gonna grow up being like them? is it a good thing to be able to grow up and be like them?
